Nestled in the picturesque Yorkshire village of Sicklinghall, the Scotts Arms has bags of character and olde worlde charm. Dating from 1685, the pub has retained many of its 17th century features, with open log fires and exposed beamwork. Run by husband and wife team, Ted and Julie Van Zeller.

However, the main reason to come to the Scotts Arms, has to be the food. The chefs serve meals of the highest quality, made from the freshest of ingredients, and cooked to order. All the food is freshly prepared on the premises and sourced locally. The meat used, has being hung for twenty eight days and the vegetables are all sourced from surrounding farms. All the eggs used, are free range, and from local farms. And with a constantly changing menu, the food can be chosen from chalk boards around the bar area,

This pretty village pub has not escaped the attention of the local media and has been featured in a ‘Touch of Frost’ starring David Jason. As well as been a regular haunt with actors from a certain Yorkshire-based soap, who pop in from time to time when filming allows.

There is a good base of local regulars too and during the summer months the local cricket team meets here every week. Outside the Scotts is a large inviting beer garden which overlooks the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.

Close to the main entrance to the Scotts Arms there is a pleasant grassed area with tables, and to the rear of the building there is a secluded garden area, a place where you can enjoy an outdoor meal or snack whilst enjoying the pleasant country air. It is a safe area for families with children.

The Scotts Barn Shop

The Scotts Arms has become an integral part of the village community. Hosting the village Post Office, once a week, the pub is also home to Scotts Barn Shop, Sicklinghall’s only shop.

The barn shop stocks an extensive range of Yorkshire and organic produce, as well as ready made sandwiches and more essential items.
