& District Naturalists' Society
The Society was formed in 1947 as the
Harrogate & District Naturalist & Scientific Society,
the present title being adopted in 1958. Its aim is to promote
the study and enjoyment of wildlife in all its forms and to
disseminate the knowledge of natural history. The Society
takes an active and practical interest in the conservation
of wildlife resources and supports efforts to safeguard the
natural diversity of species.

Harrogate
& Nidderdale Art Club
Harrogate and Nidderdale Art Club meets
every Thursday evening at Trinity Methodist Church Hall, Park
Drive, Harrogate from 7pm for the benefit of local amateur
artists. There is a structured weekly Programme from the first
Thursday in September, running through to the last Thursday
in June, which includes, on average 8 or 9 professional demonstrations
and workshops, and the opportunity to draw and paint from
models, still life and projected landscape slides.

Chess Club
Harrogate Chess Club is a small and
friendly chess club which caters for players of all ages and
abilities. New players are always welcome to come along on
club nights and play friendly games with other members. The
club meets at the Convent of the Holy Child, off Oatlands
Drive, Harrogate every Monday night between 7pm and 11pm throughout
the season, which runs from August through to May.

We have over 160 members of various
ages ranging from 18 to 80 and sing an average of four concerts
per season. We welcome new singers at any time during the
year (except for our summer break in July and August), come

The Harrogate Photographic Society was
founded in 1922 and exists to further the skills, interest
and enjoyment for all photographers from beginners to those
with experience. Our programme contains a range of illustrated
talks and demonstrations, many given by visiting experts.

months. All with an interest in photography are welcome. Those
newer to photography or perhaps to the newer digital technology
